edhunkin got their new wordpress theme design by running a design contest:
World's Fastest Cloud App Company Needs a Theme, Fast
Check out edhunkin's WordPress theme design contest…
We are a startup company that offers cloud application development using a suite of tools that we've built which enables us to develop new applications very quickly. Our name, Monza, is from the Italian Grand Prix racetrack, and is meant to symbolize speed (see our attached logo images.) We want to engage with decision-makers in companies that need our help to deliver cloud development projects, like CIOs/CTOs, leaders of DevOps or Application Development, Directors of IT, etc.
Our main goal is to have a responsive, flat, clean, minimalistic, modern and professional look that is ideal for a software design consultancy. The theme we are using current is Zerif Lite, but we are not committed to it; we do like the idea of a theme that supports a Parallax view. Our logo colors are blue and white, and we might be interested in a cloud design, illustrations, or imagery; despite being named after the Monza racetrack, we are NOT a car/automotive/racing company and do not want to be mistaken for such - so no racecars, etc. We want a fairly lightweight site, so there would hopefully not be a need for drop-down menus or other heavy navigation. Mobile friendly is important.
FRONT PAGE: we are hoping for a Parallax view homepage that will provide at least a section for our logo, a 'Focus' section that briefly describes our company and why a CIO might want to engage with us, and a simplistic 'Contact Us' section that can be used to send an email to us. If there are other sections in this first Parallax page that seem relevant, all ideas are welcome. If there is a way to allow for videos like Nexedia on this front page, that might be appealing. CAREERS: the second page we would like is a Careers page, where we can post job listings. Something that is slick and modern, that appeals to web and cloud developers, would be nice. SOLUTIONS: the third page we would like is a deeper dive into the Focus of our company; possibly this could be a place that would have more videos (like Nexedia), or details of the software we offer, or testimonials, etc. It would be flexible, and a page that would evolve over time as we acquire more content to fill out the site. (I.e., it might be a template that we use for future pages that show content on how we do what we do, etc.)
What to avoid
We do not want heavy navigation or an architecture that will require a large number of pages to show relatively little information. The colors selected should, if possible, match our logo colors (blue & white), etc.
We will be very responsive to messages, so please discuss with us if anything is unclear.
