A winner was selected from 70 designs submitted by 8 freelance designers.
Specialty Produce
We are a resource accessed from all over the world for information on produce- that's our global audience. At the same time, we are a produce distributor with a local customer base in San Diego.
We are interested in a more visual design utilizing the photographs we have taken in house, and better use of the space to allow for "discovery" or "sources of engagement". We'd like people to be encouraged to view more pages per sessions on our site. We want them to click on more items they'd be interested in with visual prompts. The color pallet should tend toward green.
For all pages: Social sharing, include 'ways to get this product' through internal links to our FMB page, retail hours and location page, and then wholesale info if a business/chef.
Home Page: Our main focus is on product information so the Product list/Side bar should be a focus. We'd like to redesign it with categories similar to the Specialty Produce App. We'd also like to see more conversions by allowing discovery using the following "sources of engagement". We have a lot of different ways we can pull interesting information in but are unsure of how to design it. The * means very important. Goal: Foster repeat exploration or repeat visits of what we offer.
+ Sources of engagement:
*Recently spotted using the Specialty Produce App – includes product, GPS coordinates, location, picture
*Integrate our Blog information

Product page: Goal: clear view of product information. From the current product page the content we for sure want – picture, product name, inventory info, last sale date, The six info sections – description/taste, nutrition info, geography/history, current facts, seasons/availability, applications.
We like the idea of the featured restaurants, the recipes and the spots being included. As you can imagine we see the integration of these components as the most challenging piece to have look good and engaging. We'd also like more of the "sources of engagement" to show up on this page as well.
About Page: Our current stock information page.
Our logo should always have a white background.
+ The Specialty Produce App and our website currently cross talk and we like the idea of preserving/enhancing that.
