How DunhillTravelDeals started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Baby Boomer Trips
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Baby Boomer trips targets baby boomers interested in travel and links them up with the best deals on the web. There are many types of travel to choose from including: cruises, escorted tours, river cruises, and more. We want them to read view our deals, read our blogs to book their vacations. Every deal, blog, or aspect of the website is tailored to a mature audience, so they will feel like everything is very customized. Right now the site is dated and needs an overhaul.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Travel & Hotel
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
The theme now is dated and needs a fresh look. It should be more modern, but have large icons and buttons for people to easily read and understand. Text should be large and minimal. We want a top bar that either drops down or displays subcategories underneath. Each page should feature bright photos that we will link to our deals.
Nav bar, sign up for newsletter, logo, links to social media. We need the home page, one nav bar page(any indented line on the attached), mobile home page, and mobile nav bar page lay out(same as desktop needs). This site will be built "mobile first", so the mobile design should be done first, and elements then taken to the desktop design. Make it easy for people to navigate. If they're on one blog page, suggest other similar pages, or if they're on one type of cruise page, suggest other destinations.
What to avoid
Stay away from a lot of red and yellow. We don't want a sidebar unless it's a link to similar pages. Don't overload each page with information. Everything should be easy on the eyes and neat, unlike the current website.
We want to use the colors green, blue, and white on the website, as our research suggests this demographic is partial to those colors. Pops of color are o.k too, as we need everything to stand out. The photo we've attached is the navigation idea. The highlighted will be the top nav and below will be the dropdown. Each page must have "deals" on them for people to click on. You can use photos or other ideas to represent the deals, which are clickable and will take users to another website. A box for information and pricing should either be visible somewhere on the deal or appear when scrolled over. We aren't sure what other elements to put on the homepage, but we want to highlight recent articles, a subscriber option (on every page), and a search tool.
