UPDATE!!! We now would like Cardboard Blister Pack concepts as mentioned in notes
Eyebloc (see eyebloc.com) is a new company that recently launched our first product, the Eyebloc Webcam Privacy Shield. This product covers the webcam of your computer, ipad, or tablet PC to ensure that no one can spy on you. See media stories on my website, but a number of people have been spied on including high schools students, Miss Teen USA who was blackmailed, and also the government may spy on people. There are also issues of corporate spying.
Our product is new to the market. We currently sell on Amazon as well as through the 3D printer Shapeways.
I have begun conversations with a number of national retailers, and therefore need packaging designed.
Our opinion is that this is an impulse buy, so its really important that the packaging conveys what the product does in terms of showing it covering a webcam on a computer and also that it provides security and safety to you and your family.
This is my first consumer product, so I am very open to advice from you the designers and the design community on best approach.
The dimensions of the product are inches: 1.25 w x 0.999 d x 0.609 h (cm: 3.174 w x 2.538 d x 1.546 h).
I already have a logo (purchased through 99 Designs) which should be part of the packaging.
The goal of the packaging is to convey the key messages of what it does
In terms of how this will be displayed at the store, the merchandise might be hanging on a display rack, so the packaging should have a hole through the top to allow for this method as well. There may also be a scenario where we display a number of the eyeblocs in their packaging in a self contained display box, something like this
