Bjorn got their new product packaging by running a design contest:
A new design for a legal Self Defence Spray
Check out Bjorn's Product packaging contest…
We manufacture and sell legal self defence sprays in Scandinavia since 1995. Our products are similar to pepper sprays but instead of chili/pepper we use an alternative ingredient with similar effect. We also use red colour in some of them, to mark the assaulter permanently red for later identification by police. Our target audience is foremost young women 18-30 years, but we have all kind of customers. We currently have four different spray products, the newest one is Bodyguard Knock Out, our best seller including red colour. We have two older sprays internally called "the original". Named "Bodyguard försvarsspray (with red colour)" and "Bodyguard försvarsspray (without colour)". These label designs have been around for a long time, and they feel very outdated. We need a new one for a remake of the colourless original spray.
What's your vision?
We need a new modern label design for the remake of the spray without color, we will use the same parts as we use for Knock Out (can, nozzle, button, hat etc.), so the only thing that will differ, is the label, it needs to be obvious that this spray is without red colour. In our latest label design for Knock Out we used the contours of a shield, even if it's not very original it suits our products very good, and this shield is more and more used in our general graphical profile.
Bodyguards colour palette is mostly black, white and red. The Knock Out spray uses metallic effects when printed, it looks very good. We have to use the same parts as we use for the manufacturing of the Knock Out spray, so the plastic parts (button, nozzle etc.) is black, we can't use white parts unfortunately. We will make a switch from the silver-brushed can (which is used for Knock Out) to a black one later this year, for all products. * The format are 50,00 mm x 117,50 mm (height x width). You need to make room on the right side for overlapping, about 12 mm. * We will keep the name "Bodyguard försvarsspray" * You can use the shield as in Knock Out, but then skip the fist. * The EAN 7350064370100 is needed. * The "highly flammable" symbol must be visible. * The full warningstext must be readable and can not be shortened. * You can use the exact same information as in knock_out_final.pdf, as a template (it's both swedish and norwegian combined). We would prefer the label design to be delivered in indesign-format if possible. For more information and images of our products, please visit www.bodyguard.se (in Swedish only).
