A Safemate is a GSM/GPS based personal alarm that a user can carry with him/her. In the event of an emergency, a press on the alarm button will alert up to four pre-configured alarm recipient. All recipients will learn via SMSes that person X is in problems, time of the event and position of person X.
For a brief crash course in the concept, invest a minute in our promo video found here: https://vimeo.com/52543287.
Please find images of the Safemate attached. Currently, the Safemate is offered in two guises, one black and one white. What the buyer/user prefers is entirely a matter of personal preferences. The black Safemates have the exact same capabilities as the white ones.
This contest is about redesigning the paint and print of the Safemate casing. Note that this is not a contest about redesigning the casing itself – only how the casing is decorated. When decorating, you should offer some thoughts to production costs. The rubber band separating the front and back casing may also be colored to suit the design, as well as the buttons.
Why do we want this? We are about to introduce a version of the Safemate that has extended functionality. In particular, the new Safemate has a sensor that is capable of detecting when a patient falls over. There are also sensors to detect epileptic seizures and possibly other medical issues. We do need these kinds of “advanced medical feature” Safemates to visually stand out from the rest of the “ordinary” Safemates.
The area below the push button *may* be used for symbols if you feel that that is right. There will be a challenge determining what kind of symbol this should be, since we do not yet know the full range of capabilities for the advanced Safemate (currently we only know about the fall sensor).
These are the key points we will be looking for the “advanced Safemate”:
• Is the design easy to implement without increasing production cost substantially?
• It should stand out clearly from the other two versions described above (the white and black),
• It should raise confidence and look serious, so you shouldn’t go absolutely bananas with your creativity,
• The Safemate logo symbol should ideally be present where it is today,
