g.winspro got their new merchandise by running a design contest:
Create Sleek design for our Resistance bands
Check out g.winspro's Merchandise contest…
One of our product lines is Resistance Bands. Think sleek designing like Apple. Our target audience is certainly women. 80% of our customers are women. What we want is a clean, minimalistic, design with creative but simple design elements. The winner of the first design will be asked to do a second design that is more gender neutral, but will be very similar.
What's your vision?
What you are designing is the stuff that is printed on each band. The bands are made of latex and the printing can't be overly complex, but there's certainly room for some creative designs. I have already decided on the colors of the bands. The Bands are 2"x10" Inches. They will be included in the photos below. There is only a few specific guidelines you must follow: I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to things being spaced and or centered perfectly. If you're slapping a simple design on without care, you have no chance. 1) each band needs it's strength indicator. Each band is a different strength level. There are many creative ways to indicate this. I'll attach some examples for inspiration, however this is not for you to copy, remember, we are trying to be better than the competition, not copy them. The Pink color is the weakest and the Blue will be the strongest. You can slightly alter the band colors if you feel it demonstrates the strength progression better. But it is important to keep the light pastel pink-to-blue color theme. 2) Design element. This is where the most creativity is needed. Ideas related to the fitness industry have crossed my mind, such as a heart beat pulse design, indicating getting your heart rate up. Dumbbell designs, for obvious reasons. a minimalistic female silhouette (women are using our bands because they want to get in good shape). You can also use abstract designs, such as mountains symbolizing the "pinnacle or peak", water, other workout related designs or even a minimalistic, sleek pattern that simply looks great. Just because the competition do it a certain way (logo + strength indicator), doesn't mean you have to do it like that. If you can integrate the two together creatively then excellent. 3) only one or two colors of printing can be used. Black is the most likely color you should use. EDIT: OK NO MORE SLOGANS, THEY LOOK AWFUL! alternatively try something creative, like borders, new designs etc, be truly creative. Overall we want sleek, minimalistic, and classy. Think high end brands. Imagine you are a woman who is interested in fitness. Feel free to search amazon or other online stores to see more examples. The bands can be oriented in any direction you choose. The design can be small or large, it can cover a large amount of area or be long and skinny, etc. there can be shading or a gradient element involved. Our resistance bands also come with a carrying pouch. You can see my old version of resistance bands (Winsharp, they are awful), just to see the type of bag and bands we had. For this bag, I would appreciate a White bag with drawstring the same color as the strongest blue band, and for the design printed on the bag, use part or all of the design from the band in the color of the weakest pink band.
I will describe each each photo here: "preffered color scheme" - these are the colors of the bands base. Alter slightly at your discretion. "band example 1" - I like some of their creative touches. "band example 2" - I like the way they have printed the "outline of the design", rather than the design itself, they let the color shine through. I also like for the strength indicator how they left the outline of the circles but didn't fill the whole circle. "nice font" - I only like the font in this photo, even though I have no idea what language that is. "competitor" - I like the minimalistic design, different thicknesses of font, and curvature of the peach insinuating a good body image. "IMG_3908" - my old crappy design and carry bag. "NEW-6" - a design I tried to get done on fiver. Ended up not being nearly high enough quality.
