naterthomas got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Young, Tattoo'd Saddle Builder Needs Logo!
Check out naterthomas's Logo design contest…
I sell myself as a saddlery, and my primary interest is in building high quality western horse tack. Saddles (obviously), chaps, chinks, headstalls, split reins, braided mecates, spur straps, rope halters, lead ropes, etc. You get the idea. I also take a lot of work on for high quality belts, holsters, knife sheaths, etc. I appeal to people who either want quality horse tack, or want other leather goods build in the fashion that a saddler would build something. I don't want to grow. I don't want to do this full time. I want this to remain a part time endeavor for me as a way to further integrate in to the western horsemanship culture. My primary focus is riding. Leather work is a way to stay connected to the lifestyle. However, I have seen great success over the last few years. I want to invest in my brand and create more of a strong identity for past and prospective clients. I have a facebook page and an instagram you can take a look at: https://www.facebook.com/MakerNT/ https://www.instagram.com/leaningysaddlery/ These are the guys I look up to: http://www.rcsaddle.com/ http://www.dgsaddlery.com https://www.instagram.com/cary.schwarz/ https://www.instagram.com/hawkssaddles/ https://www.instagram.com/7o_saddleshop/ https://www.instagram.com/stidhamoutfitters/ http://tcowboyarts.org/ That should be a decent start. I want this brand to evoke a reverence for the horsemanship heritage as well as the traditional leatherwork heritage (97%)... with the slightest bit of 'edge' (3%). I'm an outsider, here. I live on the east cost (wrong part of the country). I'm young (this is an old man's game, usually). I have tattoos (no saddle maker I know does). I haven't been at this long (most of these guys have dedicated decades to learning this trade). I don't care if I cost too much for someone's budget (lots of guys will try to cater). I'm not looking to sell a lot (most guys are). What I do sell, though, I want to be absolutely premium (ok... we're all on the same page with that one). The only pieces I'll discount my labor on are saddles, because that's a huge investment and my work isn't 100% there yet to command full retail pricing. In 20 more, though, I will. I want this logo to be closely tied to, or better yet incorporate, a traditional cattle brand. If you read in to cattle brands, you would find references to 'lazy' letters, 'winged' letters, 'rocking' letters, etc. There is no such thing as a 'Leaning' letter. My mare has a very distinct marking on her forehead that looks like the letter Y, well, leaning. Best I can describe it, it's a lower case Y, where the 'long' leg is curved like this ')'. The short 'leg' is straight. I've attached a picture of what I'm talking about. This logo is going to be used for a website, social media, business cards, stickers, hats, embroidery, vehicle lettering, price tags and signage. Please let me know if you need anything else!
