RootSecure is a spin-off of RootCellar Technologies. RootCellar is a full provider of IT services technology including IT Design and Deployment, Data Management, Hardware Procurement and Managed Security and Risk. The RootCellar logo is attached.
RootSecure is a new derivative co-brand of RootCellar that represents the Managed Security and Risk product group within the portfolio. RootSecure has been a success with existing customers of RootCellar, but has also created an identity for itself with new customers. It is entirely possible that the RootSecure brand may actually be spun out as a separate company in the future.
In the interim, it has value to us to have RootSecure be somewhat identifiable with the RootCellar brand. It is also very desireable for us to re-use our existing collaterals / materials at present so maintaining the color palette of those materials (i.e. simply substitute RootCellar logo with RootSecure logo on materials with little or no rework). Therefore, maintaining the color palette of the original brand is thought to be desireable but we remain open to the idea of a different color (i.e. different shades of orange) to make the different logo appear somewhat unique without disrupting the color scheme of various existing materials and assets, assets that are both digital and print. In other words, if the new color is complementary to the higher level logo we are open to that.
We do think the font needs to stay the same as the enclosed RootCellar logo and see no reason to change that.
We are obviously looking for different iconography than the "tornado" in the RootCellar logo. For consistency we would like that iconography to have the same aesthetic, namely very clean, simple and bold and be well represented in all white and all black variations.
Where things are a little tricky in the iconography is the concept of managed risk-as-a-service is what we provide our customers. It is actually not "security" despite the literal brand. Let me try to explain the difference. Most security products try to stop attacks or prevent breaches. So icons like gates / locks and keys used in security successfully there don't often work for us here.
- Identifies vulnerabilities in our customers continuously
- Converts those vulnerabilities to a risk score
- Suggests actions for our customers to take to lower the risk score
By reducing risk, we make our customers more secure proactively and on an ongoing basis. That is the connection of "risk" to "security".
