Travel & Hotel
- About my brand "Anchors Aweigh" - As an avid traveler since 15 years who has been to 60 countries and has travelled in a lot of different ways and styles, I have been looking for a while now to launch myself in hospitality & travel and do something with all that acquired local knowledge, all those international contacts and those memorable travel experiences. Doing so in the middle of a global health crisis that will have a profound impact on that industry for years to come may seem a bit odd, but I am convinced that there is possibility in the middle of difficulty (for instance, now that a lot more people work from home due to confinement and spend a lot of their time in front of computer screens and in web calls, I can see more and more people needing a true digital detox holiday for instance). And on the short term it would just be a side-business anyway since I have a full-time job as digital transformation consultant, so the risk is very limited. Even though I am still busy refining my future business model and value proposition as a travel consultant and trying to carve out a few niches (like the digital detox travel opportunities), my core focus is clear: promoting independent travel, staying away from the big traditional tourist hotspots, favoring small local operators, stimulating sustainability (in broad socio-economic terms, not just the environmental part, which could be done for instance by working with incorporating contact with local NGOs or volunteering experiences). The name "Anchors Aweigh" comes from a nautical expression or phrase that is a response to order to weigh anchor when the anchor has been tripped and is no longer attached to the bottom (lifting the anchor) and is thus used as part of the preparations for a ship to get underway on a voyage. It is also the name of a folk band based in Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland, Canada that I went to see there while I was on my first transatlantic trip. So for me there is a double travel-related connection there. - About the logo that I'd like to have designed - What follows is a basic brief, this is open to discussion of course. 1/ I'd like to lend a few basic design elements from 2 existing logos which you'll find attached to this brief as sample pictures (Intrepid Travel logo and Virgin Group logo). I'd like my logo to be round as well with an outer border and brand name in the same color, pretty much like in the sample logos provided except that the color should be a fresh green tint (see the picture of the green Madrid apartment building facade that I also attached as sample picture). Also, while in the sample logos the brand name text stays more or less within the boundary of the circular outer border, I'd like the brand name to extend a bit beyond that outer border in my logo. 2/ For the brand name text style, I'd rather prefer having something playful and dynamic like in the Virgin Group logo (the text in the Intrepid Travel logo is too dull for me). 3/ The Intrepid Travel logo contains the contours of a few buildings in the empty space in the bottom part of their logo. I am looking to fill the empty space above and below the brand name in my logo with travel-related scenes as well but in a more sophisticated manner (more detail and color, not just the contours). These scenes may extend beyond the outer circular boundary as well. For the top part, I would like to see a cluster of hot air balloons added to the logo (one of my own favourite travel photos is one of a cluster of hot air balloons over the caste and lake at Trakai in Lithuania, see sample pictures in attachment, and I currently also live in a city that is known for its yearly hot air balloon festival). For the bottom part, I was looking to add the back view of a girl canoeing on a mountain lake (also see sample picture in attachment). Both the hot air balloon cluster and the canoeing scene can have colors other than green. 4/ The logo should be modern and youthful and strike a good balance between playfulness and sophistication. It will be intended for use on a light background only.
Other color requirements
Base color for outer border and brand name in "fresh" green colors (see sample picture in attachment: green facade of Madrid apartment building) Rest of the design can contain other colors
Please read the design brief carefully before submitting any designs and don't hesitate to ask questions (I will do my best to answer them as quickly as possible, but please keep in mind that I have a full-time day job so please bear with me if it takes a little bit more time for me to provide feedback)
