BalSAm is a non-profit academic research project on stress management. The acronym BalSAm is derived from the German name, which in English is about “User-centered, adaptive, learning stress management for the future work environment”. Please note the spelling in upper and lower case letters: BalSAm.
We will support workers in reducing and managing stress. Balsam is the German word for English balsam or balm; the acronym purposefully relates to “balsam for the soul”. The logo should signal calmness, mental balance, relaxation, relief – anything but stress.
Our approach will be strongly technology driven with sensors measuring vital parameters and software that automatically adapts to the user’s stress level. The logo should, however, not overemphasize technology but rather focus on “balsam for the soul”. The logo might (but does not have to) relate to the balsam plants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balsaminaceae; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balsam_poplar etc.) or various pleasantly scented products derived from these plants.
Our primary target audiences are worker representatives and managers concerned with stress management in a work context. The secondary audience is the general public.
