Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We teach Chinese martial arts, health exercise programs and longevity practices. Our primary offerings are teaching people how to become more physically and energetically grounded/rooted/structured. A completely relaxed groundedness yet weightlessness, even when we're moving, is the quality of the practices. This is still all rather new and foreign to the west even though we've got a very basic awareness of things like yin/yang, qi (chi), kung fu, taichi, etc. We're teaching from proven systems and curriculum that dates back hundreds of years. rooted in traditions, science, philosophy, and medicine that's been around for thousands of years. The practices are a combination of breathing with natural movement, body alignments, qualities, focused intention and observation. Our clients include everyone from healthy individuals to cancer patients. People in their 20's-mid 80's. Strong and weak. Near and far. More woman to men currently. Healthy people are the most ideal demographic because the practices are primarily preventative. However it draws a in a lot of unhealthy people as well and people in pain because they're desperate and typically have already tried other approaches.

We reference nature a lot in my work, so I like natural colors.
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
I like the idea of watercolor style artwork. I like the images that convey movement, If theres a way to incorporate that in. Movement within stillness and stillness within movement is a quality we're always looking to sense. Please have a look at our instagram account @rootofmovement so you can see how some of the exercises look. Theres enough there for you to get a sense. We're taught to relax to move and move to relax. We're aiming for a unity of movement in everything that we do; all activity. Our intent is on complete connection internally generating a symphony of movement like the gears of a machine turning. And thats all balanced with constantly maintaining steady, slow, full, breaths in and out. It's akin to getting an acupuncture treatment or massage only you're just doing it to yourself. It instills resilience and self-reliance. It's a true system of healing which is complete and cohesive. I say all this to give you a sense of what i'm looking to try and evoke in the artwork. The jpegs of us practicing are there to inspire. Traditional Chinese paintings would paint people amongst everything else, completely blended in, almost as a backdrop. Like birds flying overhead. The people are no more noticeable than the birds or trees, river, fog/mist, animals, etc. I also like the idea of having both nature and city in the artwork if possible or those ideas. We're based in nyc. I like the idea of nature being incorporated into the design in some way.
