COMPANY OVERVIEW Pacific Performance Training is a movement studio focused on helping clients to improve their physical performance in singing/acting, sport and functional fitness. We do this primarily through the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® method to help them enhance their physicality and then connect their physicality to their performance. The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis method is a system of circular and spiral movement patterns that meld mind, body and spirit to stretch and strengthen muscles and increase joint flexibility. Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis use the same movement principles, the former with specialized equipment (https://www.gyrotonic.com/about/gyrotonic-method/). Classes are taught primarily through one-on-one sessions, though Gyrokinesis training can also be taught at a group level (https://www.gyrotonic.com/about/gyrokinesis-method/). Through regular training over a period of time, the benefits are numerous and include improved posture, balance, mobility and reduced pain (often due to extended misuse), as well as enhanced performance of the client’s chosen activity or sport Our target audience is singer/actors/performers in LA, fitness enthusiasts, golfers and senior citizens who want to improve their health and stay mobile and fit.
DESIGN OVERVIEW -- PLEASE READ ADDENDUM AT THE END Pacific Performance Training was founded in 2019 in Southern California near the ocean. It has a long-term vision of expanding its studio practice to include Kauai. Both LA and Kauai have the Pacific Ocean in common, and lend themselves to imagery of water, sun and mountains. At the heart of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® are fluid movements of arching, curling and spiraling the body with the objective of decompressing the spine, so one of our ideas for the logo is a silhouette or outline of a human body that is stretched out (please see picture of the founder of Gyrotonic, Juliu Horvath jumping into the air (see below). Having a wave motif (it is one of the movement patterns in Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis) as an echo of the Pacific Ocean is also a possibility, although many companies seem to feature waves in their logo design. LOOK/FEEL We have been leaning toward a fresh, clean overall look and like the logo/branding visuals with colors and mood inspired by: retro travel posters and Henry Rivers artwork. Typeface-wise, we like the clean lines used by the Hollywood Bowl. NOTE: there is a stipulation from the Gyrotonic organization specifically regarding the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® trademarks that we will have to adhere to on our website and in our materials: “In order to preserve our trademarks, it is necessary to adhere to the following simple rules: a) A proper trademark notice should be used after each trademark at least once, preferably the first time the trademark appears, on all labels and in all advertisements, promotional material, publications and other literature. b) Distinguish the trademark from other words in typed and printed material. This should be done by capitalization of all letters or the trademark should be utilized in italics or some other distinctive typestyle different from the rest of the text in which the trademark appears. The official font for GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® is Times New Roman in boldface. Depending on the design, the trademark may or may no be included in the logo, but would probably be included on a business card, and the overall design should harmonize with the Gyrotonic logo (see below). FYI – these are our regional competitors: https://www.gyrotonicsouthbay.com/ https://www.celebratelifepilates.com/ http://www.shuriulo.com/ (note how she surrendered her entire website to Times New Roman – this is what we would like to AVOID) We want something fresh, fun, but that conveys integrity. ADDENDUM: we would like to see about the possibility of using a chinese brush stroke calligraphy symbol in addition to the 'Pacific Performance Training' typefaced text. Example below includes the character for 'peace'. We imagine that the character will have elements of the human figure (note how 'peace' included what seem be arms and a torso, plus a spiral movement). We see that next to the Western typeface business name as a way of indicating the spirit of gyrotonic and the human element. If that could also be combined with a sense of the ocean, palm trees, the Pacific, then we would have both and an esthetic solution as well as an informative one. This means we would like to see more options along these new lines, but are still very interested in the designs that have already been submitted as they are.
