We would like to create a fun and nostalgic wedding invitation card, in the style of vintage travel posters.
We envision a two-sided card -- first side will have a Singaporean-themed design and second side will have the invitation wording. We would like to include a small logo to use inside the card where the text will be placed and so that the logo can also be used later on for additional inserts such as a rehearsal dinner invitation, a song request card, and a menu card (for dinner). The contest will focus on the design of the first side. We hope to work with the winning designer after on the second side, as well as other inserts.
For the invitation design, we would like to feature Singapore as a destination, particularly three elements: (1) tropical and lush greens, (2) architecture - Peranakan shophouses and "black-and-white" colonial houses, and (3) local cuisine - mee pok (fish ball noodles), kopi (local coffee) and kaya toast (toast with coconut jam "kaya"), and pineapple tarts and kueh lapis (local pastries). Please see Pinterest images for examples of each: https://pin.it/zdm2tdtsy337fb. We would also be open to featuring elements (1) only or (1) and (2) only if the card design looks better with less items. Singapore is known as the "garden city" with a colonial and immigrant history and resulting eclectic cuisine so we would like introduce the destination in that order.
We started out wanting a vintage travel poster of Singapore when we were inspired by this contest: https://99designs.hk/card-invitatio…96/entries. However, as most of Singapore skyline images are of skyscrapers and urban architecture, we thought it would be nice to instead feature our version of Singapore or what we really like about it - thus, the three elements. Design-wise, we would still like to feature the vintage travel poster style, look, and feel.
