Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a website and media company focused on Slow Travel in Europe and beyond. We believe every destination has a story to tell and that the journey truly is the destination.
Travel doesn’t need to be fast paced or exotic to be special, memorable, or meaningful.
We believe slow travel is the key to discovering the places that don’t make it into the tourism brochures and glossy magazines, but are every bit as special as the items on our bucket lists.
Our mission is to uncover the unexpected, the unexplored, the underrated – in essence, the hidden gems in our world. Whether we find those hidden gems in bustling international cities, or tiny rural villages, we want to hear their stories and share them with the world.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We are completing a book called The Foodie Guide to Brussels, which will be the first in a series of theme-based guides to Brussels and elsewhere in Belgium (and potentially other countries). We require a book cover TEMPLATE we can use to maintain consistency across the series. This needs to be a layered .psd or .tiff file so we can change out images and text from book to book. As these will be both print and ebooks, we would like a cover that will work for both formats. The design should be clean and modern, but still remain 'friendly.' Our focus is on useful, 'local' information and beautiful photography. All of the photos for the book and cover will come from our photography, which you can get a sense of on http://www.acmphotography.com While the image you use will not necessarily be our final choice, feel free to use any of the photos on the website for comping purposes. The aspect ration should be 1.5 to size to a 6X9 print cover. Please include the by-line 'by Alison Cornford-Matheson.' We will also have a subtitle that is still to be determined.
Our target audience is well-travelled and the cover should be sophisticated and not targeted to first-time or budget travellers.
